Blog: How to be the Best Survey Taker (and Earn the Most Rewards!)

When completing online surveys, you should always take it seriously and give your best effort – not only because it’s the right thing to do (your insights influence important business decisions!) but also because you’ll have a better chance at earning more rewards if you’re a quality survey taker. It’s a win-win for you and the survey company! Keep the following tips in mind so you can be the best survey taker and maximize your rewards potential:

Be Honest and Consistent

Honesty is the best policy. Make sure you’re being honest and consistent with your survey answers. Some survey panels have systems that can detect unlikely changes to certain types of data (for example: saying you were born in the country in one survey and born outside the country in another). Too many of these inconsistencies may result in your account being flagged. If you are regularly inconsistent in your answers, your account is at risk of being removed from the panel, which means you would lose any rewards you may have earned up to that point. To ensure this doesn’t happen, be honest in all your answers.

Take Your Time

Rushing through a survey is frequently associated with low quality answers. Some survey sites track how quickly you complete a survey and compare it to the average length of time it took all participants to complete that same survey. If your completion time frequently falls well under the average, your account may be flagged and you again risk being removed from the panel. Some surveys also contain “trap questions” – these are easy questions that anyone can answer but may be missed if the survey taker isn’t paying attention. Be sure to read each question carefully and answer thoughtfully so you can maintain your high-quality status and earn more rewards.

Answer Open-Ended Questions

Open-ended questions are those ones where you have to type out an answer instead of selecting from a list of options. Yes, we actually read your answers to these questions! It’s best to answer open-ended questions honestly and thoughtfully. If you write nonsense, your response may be disqualified, which means you could lose any reward you earned for the survey. If you occasionally don’t know what to say or can’t think of a comment, it’s fine to just tell us that. Also, please be kind. It’s okay (and even encouraged!) to have strong opinions but if you’re rude or inappropriate in your answers, your account is at risk of being removed from the panel and any rewards will be lost.

Be Quick to Respond to Invitations

One of the best ways to ensure you get your reward for a survey is to answer it as soon as you get the invitation. Surveys can close once a maximum number of responses are received. The sooner you answer the survey, the likelier you’ll get rewarded.

Overall, you’ll have the best survey experience and earn the most rewards if you put care into your responses and don’t do anything questionable. We hope this helps you be the best survey taker you can be!
